I’ve not resigned, says Sarayu, Ananya objects personally, differences of opinion after mass resignation

KOZHIKODE: Sarayu Mohan, executive member of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) rejected the decision of mass resignation. She said that she has not resigned and is still a member of the executive committee. While talking to a media, she said Mohanlal resigned as he was not interested in the turmoil.

Sarayu's words
I have not yet submitted my resignation to the committee. Such a stand was taken in the AMMA meeting. There were differences of opinion on the mass resignation. A few stick to it. It was not a press meet to be addressed only by 'AMMA'. It was a press conference to be addressed by AMMA and all activists of the film industry. The same opinion was shared by the executive committee.

Mohanlal is someone who prefers to work in his own silent space, not interested in any uproar and interference. Perhaps that is what led him to take such a decision. He did not speak in a way that he will not cooperate with us from tomorrow.

General secretary Siddique said that he welcomes the Hema Committee report. I also personally welcome. I also believe that if allegations are made, they should be proven. I am one who sought votes and got elected to the executive committee of AMMA. I have that one responsibility. So, I think I have an obligation to answer them.

AMMA is an association that is under an umbrella having people accepting crores as remuneration at a time and another expecting kaineettam from it. The association has very ordinary members. I don’t want to disappoint them. Not for honors, but that little effort is sincerely for the sake of the members from my side. I value every vote. So, I will be at the forefront to work especially for women.

The AMMA governing body shouldn’t have been dissolved like that. I reached the committee with high hopes. Came with the desire to work in a good manner for the members of AMMA. I clearly cannot accept running out of fear without making a mistake. I wouldn't say we need a generational change within the association. No matter the generation, there should be people who are efficient, have the ability to lead, and have vision. I want people having courage to come and take along others depending on the association. We may not have the knowledge that people of previous generations had. The ideas shared by the new generation are not necessarily shared by the older generation.

Meanwhile, actress Ananya also came forward reacting on the dissolution of the executive committee. I personally had objections and I am not talking about the other three. The decision of the majority was to dissolve the committee. Ananya responded that she stands by it.
