
SIVAGIRI: The Sivagiri Parinamatheertham Seminar, organised by the influential Sree Narayana Guru and Sivagiri Mutt to commemorate the historical connection between the Kerala Kaumudi and the Sivagiri Mutt, became the clarion call for the 93rd Sivagiri Pilgrimage.
The seminar was jointly organised by the Kerala Kaumudi and the Sivagiri Mutt. The seminar held in Sivagiri was inaugurated by Minister G.R. Anil. The minister hailed the contributions made by Sree Narayana Guru in Kerala, coming out of its archaic practices. The minister reminisced about the Guru’s message to ensure friendship and brotherhood while achieving material progress.
Travancore Devaswom Board President K Jayakumar delivered the keynote address. He said that the attention and dedication shown by Kerala Kaumudi for the propagation and dissemination of the values of Gurudeva's philosophy are worth mentioning. Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust President Swami Satchidananda presided over the function. He also recalled that it was Gurudeva who coined the name ‘Kerala Kaumudi’ for the publication of his disciple C.V. Kunhiraman. Swami Satchidananda also mentioned the fact that Gurudeva named the publication 'Kerala Kaumudi' even before the formation of the state Kerala, which he attributed to Gurudeva's deep insight into society and the changing times.
Kerala Kaumudi Associate Editor V.S. Rajesh delivered the introductory speech. Pilgrimage Committee Secretary Swami Saradananda, SNDP Yogam Sivagiri Union Secretary Aji SRM, Kerala Kaumudi Special Projects Editor Manju Vellayani, and former Municipality Councillor P.M. Basheer delivered speeches. Kerala Kaumudi Thiruvananthapuram Unit Chief S. Vikraman welcomed the gathering, and Kerala Kaumudi Local Correspondent Saji Nair proposed the vote of thanks.
The seminar commemorated historical moments, including when C.V. Kunhiraman, a disciple of Gurudeva, opened up to him about his desire to start a newspaper, with the aim of spreading Gurudeva's message. The seminar was notable for the presence of prominent personalities and admirers of Gurudeva.
