Kerala State School Sports Meet to be inaugurated today; first state school sports meet modelled on Olympics

KOCHI: The starting phase of Kerala's teenage sports dreams will begin today. The inaugural ceremony of the first state school sports meet to be held on the lines of the Olympics will be held at Maharaja's College Ground in Ernakulam at 4 pm today. Education Minister V Sivankutty will inaugurate the function. Olympian PR Sreejesh, actor Mammootty and others will attend the function. The registration of sports players will take place today. The competitions are from tomorrow. The school sports meet will come to an end on the 11th.

A total of 24,000 athletes are participating in 1,460 sporting events across 17 venues. The Games will begin at 7.30 am on the 5th. Athletics is from the 7th. The highlight of this year's event is the participation of differently-abled children and children from gulf countries.
