THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala is likely to receive heavy rainfall for the next five days. An Orange Alert has been issued for Kannur and Kasaragod districts, while a Yellow Alert has been declared for the districts of Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad.
Over the next three hours, moderate rainfall and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h are likely at isolated places in the districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki. Light rain is also expected in isolated areas of Kollam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur, according to the latest warning by authorities.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that strong winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h are likely at isolated places today and tomorrow.
Tomorrow, an Orange Alert has been issued for the districts of Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, while a Yellow Alert has been declared for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram.
Fishing ban
The IMD has advised against fishing in the Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep coasts from today till Monday, due to the likelihood of strong winds with speeds ranging from 35 to 45 km/h, occasionally reaching up to 55 km/h, and rough sea conditions.
