SULTAN BATHERY: The suicide note of Padmaja, daughter-in-law of former Wayanad DCC treasurer N.M. Vijayan, has surfaced after she attempted to end her life at her home in Pulpally on Saturday afternoon. She was rushed to a private hospital in Bathery. In the note, Padmaja wrote: 'Killer Congress, here is one more victim for you.'
Both N.M. Vijayan and his son Vijesh had committed suicide last year. Recently, Padmaja had accused the KPCC leadership of failing to honour the assurances given to her family.
She claimed that the party had signed an agreement promising to clear all liabilities related to Vijayan’s political activities by June 30, but no action was taken. No one came to help, even when her husband Vijesh fell ill and was hospitalised, she alleged. The money promised to cover hospital expenses was not provided, and it was only after MLA P.V. Anvar intervened that Vijesh was discharged. Later, when she went to collect a copy of the agreement from her lawyer’s office, she was told the party president had taken it for review.
Padmaja added that she had completely lost faith in the Congress. “The party destroys those who work sincerely, while fraudsters walk around in white clothes. Even our house and land are under mortgage with the bank,” she said.
