KOCHI: Kochi Infopark is set to build a world-class, AI-driven IT city that promises around two lakh new jobs as part of its third phase of expansion. IT buildings will be built covering an area of 20 million square feet and the construction is expected to begin within a year in collaboration with private companies. The aim is to complete the project before the proposed 2,000-acre AI City in Bengaluru.
Along with IT firms, the project will also cover housing, education, commercial, and healthcare sectors. The detailed project report is still being prepared, and costs will be finalised only after its completion. The government had already permitted Infopark to identify land through the land-pooling method in association with the Greater Cochin Development Authority.
About 300 acres in the Kizhakkambalam panchayat, near Infopark, will be used for this phase. There are also proposals to identify a total of 500 acres for future expansion, including a possible fourth phase.

Land pooling method
Unused land from multiple owners in a given area will be collected and developed together. After development, a portion of the land will be returned to the original owners, whose property values are expected to increase tenfold.
“With the third and fourth phases of Infopark becoming a reality, Kochi will emerge as a global IT hub,” said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
“All constructions in the third phase will be eco-friendly,” added Infopark CEO Susanth Kurunthil.
