PATHANAMTHITTA: DYFI leader Jaison Joseph, accused in the assault of law student, has been expelled from Mount Zion Law College, Pathanamthitta. The move is followed by the protests from Youth Congress. Youth Congress has decided to continue the strike against the Aranmula Police since Jaison has not been arrested despite the Supreme Court rejecting his anticipatory bail plea.

The college management expelled Jason after dramatic events. The protest alleged that the college authorities are not expelling Jaison, despite him being an accused in the incident. The youth congress members locked up the principal-in-charge demanding immediate expulsion of Jaison from the college for the protection of the complainant student. Police including Aranmula CI reached the spot but could not enter the administrative block. The police entered by breaking the lock later.

The assault happened in the college on December 20. The police did not initially register a case on the complaint that the accused assaulted the student. The police lodged an FIR when the Youth Congress workers protested by sitting in the station.
