THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The rainfall on Friday have caused massive destruction and havoc in the state. Trees fell in several places, disrupting traffic. Houses and vehicles were damaged. Power supply was also disrupted. KSEB officials said it will take several hours before the power is restored.
Trees uprooted during the rain near Vaikom Railway Station Road damaged the vehicles parked in the area. Trees fell in Kidangoor, Kanakari and Kuruppanthara, disrupting traffic. Traffic was also disrupted in Chotti and Paingana on the National Highway after trees fell. An autorickshaw belonging to a Upputhara native was partially damaged after a tree fell in Cherpunkal.
An elderly man died after a tree fell on his house on the Kolayad main road in Kannur. The victim was identified as Eniyadan Chandran (78). The tree fell on his house in the strong winds this morning. Chandran was sleeping at the time.
