THRISSUR: The long wait by students and parents of Peruvallur Government UP School in Mullassery went in vain after Minister of State Suresh Gopi passed through the route without getting down at the school. The vehicle in which the minister was travelling entered the school gate, but he did not get out of the vehicle. Later, the minister's vehicle reversed and headed towards the road inauguration venue in Peruvallur.

However, security officials say that the Union Minister's program list does not include a school visit. A petition was submitted demanding that the MP fund be allocated for the construction of a new building for the Peruvallur Government UP School, which is celebrating its centenary next year. Suresh Gopi had said that he would make the final call after visiting the school.

The ward member had told the school headmistress that the minister would visit the school when he arrived for the road inauguration in Peruvallur. Accordingly, the Mullassery Panchayat President and others were waiting to receive the Union Minister. The headmistress and other teachers postponed their cluster classes and reached the school to welcome the MoS, but alas.

Union Minister Suresh Gopi had visited the Peruvallur Anganwadi at the road inauguration site. He returned after taking photographs with the children in the Anganwadi.
