ALAPPUZHA: CPM state leadership to appease senior leader G Sudhakaran. State secretary M V Govindan spoke to Sudhakaran over the phone last night. Govindan clarified that he smiled after hearing the question of the journalists and that he had not personally mocked him. Govindan also asked him to renew his membership. However, Sudhakaran reiterated his stand of not renewing his membership. Party general secretary M A Baby is likely to talk to Sudhakaran. The crucial state committee meeting of the CPM will be held in Thiruvananthapuram today.
Sudhakaran via a Facebook post had informed that he does not want to create troubles to the leaders by continuing in the party and that he will not renew his 63-year-old party membership. Though the branch secretary visited him in person yesterday, he refused to renew his membership. Sudhakaran criticized by naming the CPM state secretary and district secretary.
State secretary M V Govindan’s remarks meant that he was not worthy of any consideration in response to a question from the media. He also laughed mockingly. District secretary R Nassar had never asked how he was when he worked in the branch after being a member of the state committee for 43 years. The district secretary did not allow him to participate in even a single public event in the last five years. The 50th anniversary of Emergency was celebrated near his house.
He is the only person alive in the district who was arrested, imprisoned and locked-up during the Emergency. He was not even given an invitation. An LC member even posted a post criticizing his father. He is a close disciple of the district committee member. Sudhakaran clarified in a Facebook post that he would not elaborate further. The reason behind Sudhakaran's protest is not only that his name was not considered but also that the party district leadership was considering H Salam as a candidate in Ambalapuzha.
