KOCHI: A madrasa school teacher died tragically after his bike rammed into a post that fell onto the road in yesterday’s rain. Abdul Gafoor (54), a native of Narikutty, died in the incident that took place in Kumbalam Ernakulam. The incident took place this morning at 5 am.

Abdul was rushed to the hospital but his life could not be saved. The electricity post involved in the accident was placed here just two days back.

The post fell near St. Mary's Church at night. The locals had informed the police and KSEB officials about the incident. Despite reaching the spot at 3 am, the police cared not to remove the post from the road.

Moments before Abdul crashed into the post, a temple priest had a similar accident. Suresh, the head priest of the Kallath Shri Krishna Temple in Nettoor, Ernakulam, was seriously injured and is now undergoing treatment.
