THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Malayalees are in the final rush to buy all the items for the Thiruvona Sadhya and Onakodi. Uthradapachil is the final day before Thiruvonam. This day is a last-minute rush to buy all that is needed for Onam. A big rush is witnessed in the markets and vegetable shops. The intensity of the rush will increase after noon today.
A heavy rush is seen mostly in vegetable shops and textiles shop. A rush is also in front of the vendors on the footpaths. No matter how expensive the items are, Malayalees see that they buy everything needed for the sadya.
Many things have changed compared to the past. Instead of the time-consuming pookkalam made with original flowers, plastic pookalam is in the market. Since Onakodi is important, different Kerala clothes are available in the market for Onam this year.
There is a huge rush in many places including in the markets of the capital city. People flock to places like Chala and Pazhavangadi. Not only in Kerala, Malayalees are celebrating Onam in all countries where they are.
