Malayali woman killed in shelling in Israel

A Malayalee woman was killed in a shelling attack by Hamas in Ashkelon, Israel. The deceased has been identified as Idukki Keerithodu native Soumya Santhosh. She was working as a caretaker in Ashkelon. It is learnt that another Israeli woman was also killed in the attack.

Palestinian militant groups in the Hamas-led Gaza Strip carried out massive rocket attacks on southern Israel throughout Tuesday. During this, two women, including Soumya, were killed and dozens injured in the Ashkelon. Following this, Israel retaliated strongly.

This was the first death in Israel in the fight against Gaza militant groups that began Monday evening. Hundreds of rockets landed in Israeli territory today. Several buildings and vehicles were damaged. Many people, including Malayalis, were injured.
