THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the election campaigning nearing a culmination in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan came with a scathing attack on Congress and BJP. He said the BJP had resorted to horse-trading even before the elections thus dampening the spirit of democracy. The criticism was a sly mention of BJP’s unanimous victory in the Surat constituency after all other candidates withdrew the nomination.
In a Facebook post, CM questioned the loyalty of the congress workers and made a cynical guess hinting more influx of congress workers to the BJP, even before the start of the elections.
Facebook post:
BJP has indulged in horse trading right before the elections. What does this mean? The basic right of people to vote for a candidate has been crushed to smithereens by the ruling party. It is a serious situation that Congress candidates and their nominees are lining up to jump ship towards the BJP. In the Arunachal assembly elections, the Congress gave BJP a walkover in ten seats. This was emulated in Surat in Gujarat.
First, it was reported that the signature in the nomination paper submitted by the congress candidate in Surat appeared to be bogus which resulted in the rejection. In the latest news, it is reported that the congress candidate acted as a broker for the BJP and beseeched all others to withdraw their nomination.
In Kerala, the case is no different. Here we have leaders in Congress who have earlier prostrated before the large portrait of RSS numero uno Golwalkar. There are also congress leaders in Kerala, who on some occasions would boast about how their government protected the RSS shakhas during the rebellion.
Assam Chief Minister Himanda Biswa Sharma revealed that a section of the Congress leaders in Kerala had discussed forming a regional party and joining the NDA. It is still unknown whether the current lot of congress leaders contesting the elections have taken part in such discussions. This says a lot about the Congress's determination to destroy the politics of hatred espoused by the BJP.
