THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sindhu, widow of auto driver Venu, came forward levelling more revelations against the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. The man, who suffered cardiac arrest was forced to lie on the floor. While talking to a media, she said that her husband pleaded several times to give him medicine as he could not bear the pain.

'My husband suffered a chest pain last Friday night. We thought it could be due to some indigestion. The next morning, he had throat pain. We went to the taluk hospital. All tests were done. He was referred to the district hospital from there.

My husband had suffered a stroke earlier. When I told them about it, they asked us to take a CT scan. There was variation in the ECG. The test showed signs of a cardiac arrest. There was no emergency angiogram there. They asked us to take him to another hospital as early as possible. 108 Ambulance was not available and so arranged an ambulance and took him to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

After writing down all the medical information, he was shifted to Ward 28. We did not get a bed and so we spread a cloth and made him lie down. He was admitted at 8:30 pm. He was not given any medicine and so told the doctor. Medicine was given at 2 am. He was given a pill to prevent blood clotting. The duty doctor came in the morning and gave him the same pill.

Took a token to see the cardiologist. Took him in a wheel chair to see the doctor in the cardio. He couldn't even sit properly. The doctor said that he could be subjected to angiogram on Wednesday or Friday. He was later shifted from Ward 28 to Ward 2. He had a headache. When told the nurse, she got angry and said could not give any medicine without the doctor’s advice. I gave him a paracetamol. After a while, he showed some discomfort. When I ran to the nurse and told her about it, she called the doctor and gave him medicine. The doctor said the angiogram would be done on Wednesday. He was still in pain and said it could be due to the attack suffered.

On Tuesday, when I read the list of the angiogram to be conducted on Wednesday, my husband's name was not there. When I asked the nurse about it, she spoke badly. I think the hospital is very irresponsible. When I asked the doctor about this, he said that if there are no much patients, thought of doing it, but everyone had come.

On Wednesday, he had breathlessness. When the echo was taken, it was mild and he was very weak. They said he would be shifted to the ICU and keep under observation. He was given an oxygen mask and after ten minutes, a nurse came out of the ICU and asked men to come, saying that it was a bit serious. They didn’t allow me to see him and I think they had killed the man then itself. Finally, got his body wrapped in cloth from the mortuary,’ she said.
