KOCHI: Actor Soubin Shahir was issued a notice in the financial fraud case related to the movie Manjummel Boys. The Maradu police have issued a notice asking him to appear before the investigation team within 14 days. In addition to Soubin, notices have also been issued to co-producers Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony.
The High Court had earlier allowed the investigation to continue in the case. A case was registered against the three producers and an investigation was initiated based on a complaint by Siraj Valiyathara, a native of Aroor, who alleged that he was denied a profit share despite investing money for the project.
The Ernakulam Magistrate's Court ordered an investigation into the case. The makers were charged with forgery, breach of trust and conspiracy. Manjummel Boys, directed by Chidambaram, was a path-breaking movie that grossed crores at the box office. The movie collected over Rs 235 crore globally. Disney Hotstar acquired the OTT rights to the film.
Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathy, Lal Junior, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Deepak Parambol, Khalid Rahman, Arun Kurian, and Vishnu Raghu played lead roles in the film.
