KOCHI: Doctor Cyriac George (26), who was arrested in a hit-and-run case in Angamaly, will be produced in court today. Cyriac will be produced in the Angamaly court at 11 am. The police will request that the doctor be remanded.

The police will argue in court that Cyriac tried to evade the law despite knowing about the accident. Cyriac's bail application will also be before the court. Jasliya, a graduate student of Angamaly Morning Star College, was hit by a car driven by Cyriac on the 28th of last month. She was on her way back to the college hostel after her part-time job when the car rammed into her. The student, who was lying bleeding on the road, was taken to the hospital by the police. Jasliya died on Monday while undergoing treatment.

After the accident, Cyriac went into hiding. Later, Cyriac was taken into custody by the Vagamon police from a resort in Kannamkulam, Vagamon, yesterday and handed over to the Ernakulam Rural police. The court granted bail to Cyriac's father, George Mathew, who was arrested for helping his son escape.

Cyriac’s classmate Akshay, who was with him in the car at the time of the accident, appeared at Angamaly station and gave his statement. Information about Cyriac George's hideout was obtained by following his tower locations. Cyriac remained at Vagamon in disguise, having shaved his beard and moustache. The car that caused the accident was taken into police custody in Thuravoor on Monday.
