THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Spas operating illegally in the capital city came under the lens just hours after Mayor VV Rajesh assured strict measures. Following a complaint from a woman over alleged misbehaviour from a staff member, the spa functioning near the secretariat was inspected and shut down. The corporation officials inspected and closed Sparshan Wellness Spa.

The inspection was led by the corporation's health department. The police also reached the spot. Mayor V.V. Rajesh had revealed in a press conference that a young woman who came for an interview yesterday faced assault from the staff. The 23-year-old woman called the mayor to complain about the issue. The mayor then informed the police about the matter. Following this, the spa centre was inspected.

It was found that a part (premium section) of the Sparshan Wellness Spa in front of the Secretariat was operating without a license. The spa was subsequently closed.

In a presser earlier, Rajesh said that an inspection would be conducted to check the license of all spas operating in the capital city.

“Masseurs and doctors are needed in spa centres. Cross gender massage will not be entertained. Information has also been received that some doctors are abetting such things. They are under strict surveillance by the corporation and the police. The Medical Council will be informed.” Said VV Rajesh.
