THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case was registered against director P T Kunju Muhammed on the complaint of a film activist who alleged that the director misbehaved with her during a screening of films for the International Film Festival. The complainant is a film activist, a jury member, who wrote to the Chief Minister against Kunju Muhammed, the chairman of the jury.

According to the complaint, the director, also a left sympathiser, misbehaved with her at the hotel after they both completed the screening of a movie in Thiruvanathapuram. The police had registered a case of insulting women and started an investigation. The incident occurred during the first week of last month during the selection of Malayalam films for the 30th IFFK, set to begin on December 13.

Meanwhile, Kunju Muhammed came forward, denying the allegations, saying that the complainant might have misunderstood his approach. The award-winning director also said that he would apologise if needed.

The Chief Minister handed over the complaint to the Cantonment Station. The Cantonment Police sought information from the film producer. The Cantonment Police collected CCTV footage from the hotel.
