BATHERY: The dead body of a man, who went missing almost one and a half years back from Kozhikode, was recovered from the forest on the Tamil Nadu border. The body has been identified as that of Hemachandran (54), a native of Poomala Chettimoola, Wayanad.
The dead body was recovered in the Cherambadi forest adjacent to the border, under the leadership of the Kerala and Tamil Nadu police. The body, which was buried about four feet deep, was found in a crouched position.
Jyotish and Ajesh, natives of Bathery, are in police custody in the incident. One of the accused showed the police the place where Hemachandran was buried. Police said that the accused had deceived the family using Hemachandran's phone. The police received a missing complaint on April 1 last year. An investigation was conducted later, but no evidence was found.
Recently, the police had arrested one of the accused in connection with a theft case. Some clues received from him led to the information about Hemachandran's disappearance. Hemachandran was a small-time chit fund manager. Hemachandran had a few debts and was supposed to pay money to a few people.
In the meantime, the accused asked Hemachandran to come to the Kozhikode Medical College premises. Then they took Hemachandran to an empty house and roughed him up. Hemachandran died the next day. The police's preliminary investigation revealed that the accused took the body to Cherambadi and buried it the next day.
