Monsoon just beginning in Kerala; warning issued for four districts including Ernakulam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department announced a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. On the 10th, a yellow alert was issued for districts including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts.

Yellow Alert:

11/06/2025: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode

12/06/2025: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod

The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is received in 24 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department informed that there is no obstacle to fishing on the Kerala - Karnataka - Lakshadweep coasts today (08/06/2025).

From 08/06/2025 to 12/06/2025: Strong winds gusting up to 45 to 55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph at times, are likely to occur over the Somalia coast and adjoining southwest Arabian Sea, south Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Kanyakumari area.

08/06/2025: Strong winds gusting to 35 to 45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph at times, and bad weather likely over the Andaman Sea.

09/06/2025: Strong winds gusting to 35 to 45 kmph, and bad weather likely over the South Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.
