Mundathikode tragedy: DNA tests confirm identity of four more victims; remains to be released

THRISSUR: Four more victims of the Mundathikode fireworks accident have been identified through DNA testing of recovered body parts. The deceased have been identified as:

• Abhijith (27), son of Babu, Puthurkkara, Thrissur Manakkodi.
• Vishnu Vinod (35), son of Vijayan, Thrissur Kottappuram Desham.
• Girish (42), son of Mohanan, Thrissur Thekkumkara Desham.
• Suresh (50), son of Ayyappan.

Following the identification, the District Collector held a meeting with the relatives of the deceased. It has been decided to release the remains to the families.

The total death toll in the Mundathikode accident has now reached 17. Two individuals who were undergoing treatment—Unnikrishnan and a youth named Rakesh—passed away yesterday and today, respectively. Additionally, Mundathikode Satheesan, the fireworks contractor for Thiruvambady who was critically injured, passed away a few days ago.
