Murder of youth in flat; Flatmate Arshad still missing, more involved in murder

KOCHI: The police have intensified investigation into the incident where a youth was found murdered in an apartment in Kochi. K Sajeev Krishnan (23) of Malappuram, Ambalapadi Puthanpura House was found murdered in Oxoniya apartments near Edachira Ghanda Karna Temple in Kakkanad.

The preliminary conclusion of the police is that Arshad, a resident of Payyoli, who was staying with Sajeev, is likely to have committed the crime. Though the police searched for him at his house in Payyoli, could not trace him. His phone is switched off.

It is indicated that Arshad after committing the crime fled with Sajeev’s phone. Police said that only if Arshad is taken into custody, the reason for the murder will be known.

The police are also investigating whether more people are involved in the crime. Sajeev's body will be handed over to his relatives today after the post-mortem. Sajeev Krishnan was staying with three of his friends on the 16th floor of the apartment for rent. Arshad is another friend of theirs. He used to come here quite often to stay with them.

Two of his three friends were on a tour and the other had gone to his house in Kozhikode. Following that, Arshad came here. When they returned on Monday, found the apartment locked. They stayed in a room nearby and when they came again around 11 am the next morning, it was still closed. Then they brought a carpenter and with his help opened the door and seeing blood stains in the bedroom examined and found the body inside the duct.
