KOZHIKODE: Looting happening in government colleges in the state over NAAC accreditation. As it is the time of degree admission, the collection from the parents is going on regularly. The receipt shows the money collected as PTA fund.

Meenchanda Govt Arts and Science College, Kozhikode charges Rs 4000 from parents. Teachers should also pay the 'NAAC fee'.

The Principal's message is that assistant professors should pay 6000 and professors 12,000 each. The leave applications of those who do not pay will go to the basket. The justification is that more infrastructure needs to be put in place to renew the NAAC accreditation. The money is being collected on the grounds that they are not getting enough funds from the state and central governments.

Unauthorized collection of funds is happening without the permission of the Director of Collegiate Education. Many Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students from Wayanad and Attappadi come to study at Meenchanda College. Rs 4000 is taken from those who are struggling to pay even Rs 1250 as an admission fee.

To please the NAAC team

Accreditation is in various categories. Principals argue that going from small to large categories costs more money. A Grand Alumni Meet was organized at Meenchanda College on May 1 to raise funds. The registration fee was Rs.500. Personal contribution in addition. 500 rupees each were collected from the students completing degree and PG studies for membership in the Old Students Association. Another collection in the name of the Departmental Alumni Association. Money should be paid to get the mark list and TC also. 2500 students are studying in Meenchanta Govt College. The new admissions will be close to a thousand and there are 107 teachers. How many lakhs will it be collected in total taking into account all these? There is no answer to the question of the teachers and parents.
