
PALAKKAD: Vadakara MP Shafi Parambil was sentenced by a court to imprisonment and a fine in a case related to the blockade of the Palakkad National Highway. The Palakkad Judicial First Class Magistrate Court sentenced Shafi to a fine of Rs 1,000 and imprisonment until the court adjourns. The incident related to the case took place on June 24, 2022. An arrest warrant was issued against Shafi last week after he repeatedly failed to appear in court in the case registered by the Kasaba police.
Around forty Youth Congress workers, led by Shafi Parambil, had blocked the national highway near Chembalode bridge in Chandranagar to protest against the vandalism of Rahul Gandhi's MP office in Wayanad by SFI workers. P Sarin, who was part of the Youth Congress at that time, was the ninth accused in the same case. P Sarin, who had appeared in court earlier, was sentenced to a fine of Rs 500 and imprisonment until the court adjourned.
