Navy helicopter crashes in Kochi; one navy official dies, another official seriously injured

KOCHI: A navy official was killed after a helicopter crashed in Kochi on Saturday afternoon. The accident took place at the INS Garuda, a naval air station at the Naval Base in Kochi.

According to sources, the Chetak Helicopter crashed during a routine training around 2,30 p.m. A naval officer who was on the runway was killed. Two other officers on board the aircraft were admitted to Sanjeevani Hospital of the Indian Navy with injuries. It is reported that their injuries are not serious. Kochi Harbor Police has reached the spot.

It is reported that the accident was caused by a technical issue. The Navy has not officially responded to this. There are reports that the Navy will soon issue a statement.
