THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George confirmed that a total of 674 people are on the Nipah contact list in various districts in the state. From the list, 131 are in Malappuram district, 426 in Palakkad, 115 in Kozhikode and one each in Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. 12 people are under treatment in isolation in Malappuram. So far, 88 samples have tested negative in the Malappuram district.
81 people from Malappuram district, two from Palakkad and one from Ernakulam who have completed the isolation period have been excluded from the contact list. 17 people from Palakkad are undergoing treatment in isolation. A total of 32 people in the state are in the highest risk category, and 111 people are under observation in the high-risk category. The minister directed the One Health Centre for Nipah Research to document all matters related to Nipah cases. An ICMR team visited Malappuram.
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister Veena George. NHM State Mission Director, Health Department Director, Medical Education Department Director, Additional Directors, District Collectors, District Medical Officers, Police Officers and various department officials attended the meeting.
