'No one has left AMMA, everyone will unite together for good governance'; says Mohanlal

KOCHI: Actor Mohanlal, former president, came to cast his vote as the election in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is progressing. He came to vote with producer and actor Antony Perumbavoor. Mohanlal also responded that he is hopeful that the new committee being elected today will be able to lead the organization in a good way.


'A committee will be formed according to the opinions of the members. It will take AMMA forward in a good way. No one has left the association and all are in it. I believe that everyone will unite together for a good governance,’ said Mohanlal after casting his vote. Mohanlal said that he is flying to Chennai in the afternoon after meeting his own mother.

Antony Perumbavoor said AMMA elections this time are different from the usual ones. Like the elections in the producers' organization, those acceptable to everyone will be elected here too. He added that personal opinions are irrelevant. The elections, which began at 10 am today, will be held at the Kochi Marriott Hotel until 1 pm. The results will be announced at 4 pm. 507 members of the organization including 233 women have voting rights. It is reported that Mammootty will not be able to vote as he is in Chennai.

Devan and Swetha Menon are contesting for the president’s post. Raveendran and Kukku Parameswaran will also contest for the post of general secretary. Ansiba Hasan was elected unopposed for the post of joint secretary.

Jayan Cherthala, Lakshmi Priya and Nassar Latheef are contesting for the post of two vice presidents. Unni Sivapal and Anoop Chandran are contesting for the post of treasurer. Kailash, Sijoy Varghese, Rony David, Tini Tom, Santosh Keezhattur, Vinu Mohan, Nandu Pothuwal and Joy Mathew are contesting for the post of executive committee. Neena Kurup, Sajitha Betty, Saryu Mohan, Asha Aravind, Anjali Nair, etc. are also contesting for women's reservation in the executive committee.
