No ten days holiday for Christmas this year; schools in the state to reopen early

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Public schools in the state of Kerala will not get ten days holiday during the Christmas vacation this time. The time table of Christmas exam in Kerala schools was published last day. The exams will be held from December 11 to 19 for LP, UP and High School categories. The school exams will be over on the 20th and the vacation starts on the 21st.

General Education Department has advised that if a holiday is declared between 11th to 19th, then the examinations that are supposed to be conducted on that day should be held on the 20th instead. The decision regarding the holidays in Kerala has already been announced. Students did not get 10 days of vacation for Onam break either. They will get only nine days holiday during Christmas.

Schools which close on the 20th will reopen on 30th December itself. Only local holidays will be applicable. Students got only nine days off for Christmas instead of ten days in 2023 also. There were exactly ten days of leave in the years before that.

The exam will be held from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm and from 1:30 pm to 3:45 pm. The Friday afternoon exam will be from 2:00 to 4:15. The examination will be held for two and a half hours in high school sections. The Department of General Education has informed that 15 minutes cool off time will also be allowed.
