THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru, who was taken into custody by the Special Investigation Team on Friday, is likely to face additional charges in the theft case. The Special Investigation Team is also planning to make Tantri an accused in the Dwarapalaka sculpture case. A report in this regard will be submitted to the court on Tuesday.

The SIT found that the Tantri was complicit in the violation of the Devaswom manual, signed the Mahazar that turned gold to copper, and even had clear knowledge of the UB Group’s intention in gold plating. The SIT clarified that Tantri had the responsibilities of an officer of the rank of Assistant Commissioner. The Special Investigation Team recorded 11 arrests in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft so far.

Meanwhile, with the arrest of the chief priest of the Sabarimala temple, all eyes are now on the next person on the SIT list. The SIT gave a sly hint of the involvement of high-ranking personalities in the theft case. A clarity will be obtained after the detailed questioning of the Tantri.

Shankaradas, a former board member, will be arrested immediately. Board president Prashanth, who approved the gold be taken for plating in 2025, will be questioned again.
