MALAPPURAM: Minister V Abdurahiman will contest from Tirur as a Left-backed independent candidate. He said that everyone would like to contest from their hometown and added that he will begin his campaign after Eid. Abdurahiman stated that Tirur has been lagging behind in development and expressed confidence that there will be a change this time.
The CPM had earlier announced him as a candidate from Tanur. However, he was not ready to begin campaigning there. He had already informed the district leadership that he was not interested in contesting from Tanur.
Despite this, the party decided to field him again in Tanur, as he is the sitting MLA and was seen as the best candidate to retain the constituency. Soon after, Abdurahiman publicly expressed his dissatisfaction and showed willingness to contest from Tirur instead.
On Wednesday, after attending an event to inaugurate the CPM district committee office in Malappuram along with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Abdurahiman indicated that he would shift his focus to his hometown Tirur.
