BENGALURU: The lucky winner of this year's Kerala State Onam Bumper Lottery has been identified. Karnataka native Althaf has won the first prize of Rs 25 crore. Althaf bought the ticket last month from Sultan Bathery in Wayanad. He works as a mechanic in Karnataka and has been regularly purchasing lottery tickets for the past 15 years. Althaf said that he was very happy that luck had finally smiled upon him.
"Many people used to discourage him while he kept on buying lottery tickets. However, he bought the ticket confidently this time believing that he would win the bumper prize," Althaf's relative said.
Althaf lives with his wife and two children. Althaf's dream is to conduct his daughter's and son's weddings grandly. He also wishes to own a house, as he doesn't have one yet. He plans to use the lottery money to fulfil these desires.
The first prize went to ticket TG 434222 sold by NGR lotteries owner Nagaraj in Sultan Bathery. Nagaraj had bought the tickets wholesale from the Bathery branch of SK Lucky Centre, Panamaram.
The second prize of Rs 1 crore each went to 20 individuals from various districts: Thiruvananthapuram (5), Palakkad (4), Kollam (4), Thrissur (3), Pathanamthitta (2), Malappuram (1), and Kannur (1). 20 people will receive the third prize of Rs 50 lakhs each, with two winners in each of the 10 series. Ten series will receive the fourth prize of Rs 5 lakhs each. There are a total of 5,34,670 prizes.
