KOZHIKODE: A man was arrested over the suspicious death of a woman who died due to electrocution in the Kongad hills of Pasukadavu the other day. Bobby (40), the wife of Choolaparambil Shiju, died tragically in the incident.
Dileep alias Lineesh, a native of Pasukadavu, Cheeramattom, was arrested in the incident. The postmortem report stated that Bobby and the cow died due to electric shock. It was found that Bobby got electrocuted from an electric fence set up by Lineesh to prevent wild animal intrusion. Lineesh was taken to his house in Pasukadavu, and equipment related to the electric trap was found. Lineesh had once before been booked for hunting wild animals.
Items suspected to be from an electric trap were found in the vicinity where Bobby's body was found. Parts of a PVC pipe were found in the cocoa plantation. An electric line passes near where the body was found. Panchayat member Baburaj had alleged that there was a mystery surrounding Bobby's death.
Bobby went missing last Friday. It was her children who raised an alarm and informed their father of Bobby’s disappearance, as she failed to return after grazing the cow. The forest department, police, fire force, locals and Kuttiyadi People's Disaster Response Force workers jointly searched as Bobby failed to return even during the night. At around 12 am, the dead body of Bobby and the cow was recovered from the nearby field.
