PALAKKAD: A woman identified as Devi came forward levelling serious allegations after her two children died following the collapse of an under- construction house. The two dead are Aadhi (7) and Ajnesh (4), children of Ajay and Devi of Karuvara in Attappady, four kilometers away from Mukkali. Their relative Abhinaya aged six sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.
Devi said one of her sons had life when she kept him on her lap. Despite repeated calls, a vehicle was not obtained. Later had to take him to the hospital on a scooter. If had taken to the hospital earlier, at least one would have been saved. Devi also said there was no response from the promoter and member even after calling them many times.
The accident happened in an uninhabited house. The slab collapsed when the three children were playing here during the day. Ajay and his family live in another house nearby. The house was lying unused for eight years. The accident happened when the children were playing in the sunshade of the house. The house did not have a roof. It was in a pathetic condition due to the rain and sun.
The Karuwara Unnathi is in the forest, four kilometers away from Mukkali. There is no range for mobile phones. The family was unable to contact anyone outside on the phone. They were then taken down on a scooter belonging to a nearby family and from there were taken to the hospital in a jeep of the forest department.
