One-year-old boy dies of jaundice after parents refuse treatment, police begin probe

MALAPPURAM: A one-year-old boy suffering from jaundice died without getting treatment. The incident happened at Pang near Kottakkal in Malappuram. The dead is Esen Erhan, son of acupuncturist Hira Harira and Nawaz. The Kottakkal police have started an investigation after allegations were levelled that the child died after his parents refused to treat the boy.

Hira delivered the baby at home on April 14, 2024. Police said the baby has not been vaccinated yet. His parents had promoted acupuncture treatment through social media. It is also alleged that they had shared posts strongly opposing the scientific method of treatment on social media. The baby died last evening. The body was laid to rest Saturday morning.
