THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition walked out of the assembly after the Speaker denied permission to move an adjournment motion on the gold-plated sheets issue in Sabarimala. The opposition sought permission to move an adjournment motion and hold discussions, stating that the gold-plated sheets was taken without permission and that the weight of the sheets had decreased by about four kilos, which had caused great concern among the faithful in the society. When the Speaker denied permission, the opposition walked out of the house in protest.
The Speaker said the issue is under the active consideration of the Kerala High Court and so the notice could not be considered. However, opposition leader V D Satheesan told the house that a notice for adjournment motion had been moved earlier on things under the consideration of the court. However, Minister M B Rajesh said the opposition is dissatisfied as they could not stop the Global Ayyappa Sangamam starting tomorrow. He said the issue which is in the court is being deliberately brought and creating a commotion.
The opposition said the government is neglecting Sabarimala and therefore the house be adjourned and the matter be discussed. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan moved the notice for adjournment motion. The opposition walked out after permission was denied. Minister P Rajeev said the case will be considered again on September 30th and if it had been discussed today, the opposition would have had to walk out more ridiculously than in the last three days.
