Padmanabha Swamy temple worker commits suicide

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Daily wage worker of Sripadmanabha Swamy temple committed suicide by leaping in front of a train for not getting benefits. The deceased is Satish Kumar (43), a native of Nemam. The incident happened on Monday night. Other employees said that Satish Kumar, a daily wage earner for 14 years, was in financial trouble.

Satish Kumar, who worked for a daily wage of Rs 500, had no PF or ESI benefits. In 2018, the interim administration committee appointed by the Supreme Court had issued an order making 10 people including Satish Kumar permanent employees. The employees allege that this order was frozen by the later governing body. Satish Kumar was married to Archana. Children: Kailas (10) and Daksha (one year).
