The most Patta deeds will be distributed this month in Thrissur - 3895. Palakkad (2409), Malappuram (2111) and Kozhikode (1780) districts are next in the list. The least will be distributed in Kollam - 94. The Revenue Department is on a mission to distribute 16,918 more Patta deeds by July 31.
The target of four lakh Patta deeds is being reached as per the 1964 rules for allotment of land in Panchayat areas, the 1995 rules for allotment of land in Municipal and Corporation areas, the 1993 Forest Land Special Rules and the Surplus Land Rules.
The Patta deeds of the land titles of the migrant farmers or their descendants who migrated to forest lands before 1977 and did not apply for Patta deeds will also be distributed along with this. The collection of information on those who are eligible for Patta deeds in the districts is being completed. This will provide a permanent solution to the Patta deed issues in the hilly areas.
