THRISSUR: Business mogul M A Yusuff Ali's surprising revelation busted the government narrative of Kerala becoming a business hub, attracting investments from across the world. The expatriate industrialist clarified the reason behind the third full-sized mall not coming up in Kerala after Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. As per Yusuff Ali, Lulu Mall would have started operations in Thrissur city, if not for the interference of a big politician.

“The Lulu Mall project in Thrissur was supposed to start operations in 2022. However, a political party interfered and one of its popular leaders stood hindrance and is now delaying the project. The project, which would have employed 3,000 people, was implemented through the Lulu Shopping Mall in Thrissur.” Yusuff Ali was speaking after inaugurating the Thrissur Management Association headquarters at Chiyyaram, Thrissur.

"The case was filed against Lulu during the land acquisition process. The case is still pending in the High Court. Running a business in this country is an arduous task that comes with several challenges. Lulu Mall will start operations in Thrissur if we manage to surpass all those challenges,” said M A Yusuff Ali.
