THRISSUR: Just days after doctors monitored an injured elephant in Athirappilly, another tusker was spotted with injuries from the same location on Tuesday. Ezhattumugham Ganapathy, the wild tusker that used to frequent human habitats, was found with a leg injury in the area.
The forest department has appointed a special team of doctors to monitor the elephant. Initial reports suggest that the pachyderm is fatigued. The elephant is monitored by a team of forest department doctors, including Binoy, Mithun and David.
Dr Binoy visited the elephant today, along with the forest rangers.
It is doubtful that the elephant injured its leg while trying to cross the barbed fence. After conducting a detailed examination in the presence of other doctors, the report will be submitted to the DFO. After examination, doctors will decide whether to treat the elephant after injecting a tranquilizer dart.
Ezhattumugham Ganapathy was seen alongside the injured tusker at the same spot last month.
