PALAKKAD: The preliminary post-mortem report has ruled out medical negligence in the death of a pregnant woman who collapsed and died while undergoing treatment at Pattambi Taluk Hospital. The deceased is Noushija (29), wife of Nisar Basha, a native of Mezhathur. The post-mortem was conducted at Thrissur Medical College. The report says that the death was caused by amniotic fluid entering the lungs.

Noushija, who was nine months pregnant, was admitted to Pattambi Taluk Hospital on February 16th. She had been under the observation of doctors since the 19th, after experiencing pain. Yesterday morning, she developed breathing difficulty and bleeding, after which she suddenly collapsed. Doctors immediately advised shifting her to a private hospital in Ottapalam. However, she died before reaching the hospital.

Following the incident, relatives came forward alleging medical negligence, claiming that she was not given adequate treatment. Based on a complaint filed by Noushija’s brother, Thrithala police have registered a case.
