A shadow police team is in front of Rahul's house to observe his movements.
Meantime, Rahul has to appear before the investigation team today in the case of raping a 23-year-old woman living in Bengaluru after taking her to a homestay. The court granted anticipatory bail to Rahul in the case on December 10 with the condition that he should appear before the investigation officers every Monday and sign. While granting bail, the court had clarified that there was no prima facie evidence to prove the rape charge against Rahul and that the possibility that the complaint was filed under pressure could not be ruled out.
If arrested, he should be released on two sureties of Rs 50,000 each. He has to appear before the investigating officer every two weeks between 10 and 11 am for three months or until the final report is submitted. He has to appear whenever the investigating officer asks. The court has placed conditions before Rahul, such as not contacting the complainant or the witnesses, directly or indirectly.
The high court is likely to consider the first rape case registered against Rahul today. The high court had temporarily stayed Rahul's arrest in the case. The court had then made it clear that it would hear the case in detail. Rahul had mentioned in his anticipatory bail plea that it was a consensual relationship and that the woman had filed the complaint when their relationship broke.
