KASARAGOD: There are indications that Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who was absconding in a sexual harassment case, is in police custody. There are rumours that Rahul may be produced in the Hosdurg court in Kasaragod district. The Thiruvananthapuram Principal Sessions Court had rejected Rahul's anticipatory bail application. The move to produce him in court today and remand him is being made in this situation.

A large police force has been deployed in the Hosdurg court premises. There are indications that Rahul is already under police custody. Rahul Mamkootathil was expelled from the Congress after his anticipatory bail application was rejected.

The court observed that Rahul Mamkootathil is prima facie guilty in the sexual assault case. Both sides argued on Rahul's bail application yesterday and today. The argument was held in a closed courtroom. The court had asked the prosecution to produce one more document yesterday, after an hour and a half of argument. The court then completed the hearing today after examining the new evidence.

The main demand of the defence was to prevent Rahul's arrest. However, anticipatory bail was denied after rejecting the defence's argument. The prosecution was able to convince the court of the facts against Rahul. The court rejected the bail application after taking into account the prosecution's arguments. The court rejected Rahul's anticipatory bail application in a single sentence, "Petition dismissed."
