THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department announced a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. A yellow alert has also been issued in Wayanad and Kannur districts on the 29th and in Malappuram and Wayanad districts on the 30th.

Heavy rain is defined as rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

The Indian Meteorological Department has announced that there is a possibility of isolated rain with thundershowers and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph in Kerala from today to the 28th, and isolated rain with thundershowers on the 29th and 30th.

  • Lightning strikes are dangerous. They cause great damage to human and animal life, electrical and communication networks, and household appliances connected to electrical conductors.

  • At the first sign of lightning, move inside a safe building immediately. Remaining in open areas increases the risk of being struck by lightning.

  • Keep windows and doors closed during periods of high winds and lightning. Stay away from doors and windows. Stay inside the building and try to avoid touching the walls or floor as much as possible.

  • Disconnect electrical appliances. Avoid proximity to electrical appliances during thunderstorms.

  • Avoid using the telephone during thunderstorms. It is safe to use a mobile phone.
