THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A holiday was declared for educational institutions in seven districts tomorrow due to the ongoing heavy rains in the state. Along with Kannur and Ernakulam districts, district collectors have also declared a holiday in Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts. All educational institutions including Anganwadi will be closed. The Kottayam Collector's announcement also states that the holiday will also apply to art, sports and religious schools in the district.
Meanwhile, MG University changed all examinations scheduled for Friday minding the heavy rainfall.
Kottayam
Given the continuing heavy rains and the prevailing rain warnings, District Collector John V. Samuel declared a holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges in the district on May 30, 2025 (Friday).
The holiday will also apply to Anganwadis, educational institutions, vacation classes, tuition centres, other vacation arts and sports training centres/institutions, and religious schools. The holiday will not apply to previously scheduled exams.
Idukki

Thrissur
As heavy rains continue in Thrissur district on May 30, a holiday has been declared for all educational institutions including professional colleges, anganwadis, Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE and ICSE schools, tuition centres, and madrasas in the district tomorrow as a precautionary measure. There will be no change in the scheduled exams and interviews.
Kannur
