Rains intensifying in Kerala; yellow alert issued in various districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Monsoon is getting stronger in the state again. Yellow alert has been declared in nine districts today. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod are on yellow alert.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph in isolated places in Thrissur in the next three hours.


The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of widespread rain in the state for a week. There is a possibility of isolated extremely heavy rainfall on June 14 and 16 and isolated very heavy rainfall from June 12 to 16. Officials said that there is a possibility of strong winds with a speed of up to 50-60 kmph over Kerala on June 14.


Orange alert has been sounded in Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow, and yellow alert in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad. The day after tomorrow, orange alert has been declared in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Yellow alert has also been issued in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram.
