Rains to intensify in all districts, warning of strong winds

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department has predicted a possibility of rain and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph in all districts of Kerala in the next three hours. Yellow alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod today. The IMD has banned fishing on the Kerala- Karnataka - Lakshadweep coasts till July 25. Fishermen and coastal residents are advised to be vigilant as there is a possibility of sea attacks.

Alert issued

1. As the sea is likely to become rough, one should move away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

2. Small boats and yachts into the sea should be avoided during this time.

3. Landing fishing vessels in the sea during periods of high tide and rough seas is as dangerous as launching fishing vessels into the sea. Therefore, landing and landing should be avoided during periods of strong waves.

4. All activities, including beach-based tourism, should be completely avoided until the warning is lifted.

5. Fishing vessels (boats, yachts, etc.) should be safely tied up in the harbor. Maintaining a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. The safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

6. Avoid trips to the beach and recreational activities in the sea completely.

7. Be especially careful as there is a possibility of coastal erosion.
