NEW DELHI: The survivor in the rape case against Rahul Mamkootathil MLA has approached the Supreme Court. She approached the Supreme Court against the plea filed by Deepa Joseph, a lawyer and accused in the case of abusing her on social media. Deepa Joseph had filed a plea to quash the case. The survivor has filed a caveat against this.
The survivor has demanded that her arguments be heard before issuing an interim order in Deepa Joseph's plea. Advocate K R Subhash Chandran filed the survivor’s caveat plea. Deepa Joseph, a Congress supporter, is the second accused in the case of abusing her on social media. The content of her plea is not yet clear. There are hints that in addition to the demand to quash the case registered by the Kerala Police, some constitutional issues have also been raised in the plea.
Meantime, the ethics committee of the legislative assembly will consider the complaint on Monday to disqualify Rahul, who is accused in many rape cases. The complaint filed by D K Murali MLA against Rahul was forwarded to the Ethics Committee by Speaker A N Shamseer. The court had granted bail for Rahul in the third complaint and he is at his home in Adoor after released from jail. It is after this that the complaint seeking his disqualification from the post of MLA is being considered.
