Rapper Vedan on the run; music programme in Kochi postponed, police intensify probe

KOCHI: The music programme of Rapper Vedan, who is on the run, has been postponed. The event titled ‘Olam Live’ at Bolgatty Palace in Kochi was supposed to be held on Saturday. The organizers have informed that it will be held on another day. A rape case was recently registered against Vedan on the complaint of a doctor The police had decided to arrest him if he had attended the event.


Vedan had approached the Kerala High Court for anticipatory bail in the rape case. The investigation is being held by a team led by Thrikkakara ACP. The Infopark SHO is presently in charge. The police have confirmed the complainant's allegations of financial dealings with Vedan. The woman's statement is that she was raped five times and that he abused her in Kozhikode, Kochi and Eloor. The woman said that he abused her under the influence of drugs. The names of friends who know all these things are also inlcuded in her statement.


The woman had revealed that Vedan had been avoiding her since July 2023 and that he failed to pick up the phone whenever she called. The woman said that his withdrawal mentally shattered her and that she had transferred Rs 31,000 to Vedan on several occasions. The woman also produced the account details of G Pay. The police have registered a case against Vedan under the non-bailable section. Meantime, Vedan had then responded that he would proceed with legal action in the case filed against him.
