Rescues pregnant women stranded in heavy rains in mid of forest; Minister lauds police and health workers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George has lauded a team of policemen and health workers, who rescued three pregnant women stranded in Mukkumpuzha tribal colony in the middle of a forest in Thrissur. The minister appreciated the police and the forest department officials who helped them.

A woman gave birth to a child in the forest. However, they got stranded in the middle of the forest during heavy rains and were safely shifted to the colony with the help of the forest department and the police. They were taken to a safe place on a raft made of bamboo for two kilometers through the Peringalkuth Dam and were given birth care. Although the mother had high blood pressure, she was not willing to be shifted to a hospital. Following which, the DMO, DSO and their team came directly to the colony and convinced her. Later, they were shifted to Chalakudy Taluk Hospital. Both the mother and her newborn are stable. Also, the safety of two five and six month pregnant women was ensured in the colony itself.
